Farewell!

It’s rare that you get a chance to understand what teachers and professors go through on a regular basis. The hard-working students, the slackers, the complainers, they have all added to the job of being a TA Read more

Final Project, Final Story

Last semester, the counterfactual identity project was near and dear to my heart. It gave me a chance to address a loss I experienced many years ago, and understand how life would have been if it had not occurred. This semester, the closest thing I experienced to a project that I felt was (no bragging intended, I promise) as deep as mine was perceived to be by our tA’s last semester.

The Future of Youtube Stardom

There are a lot of freshmen at Long Beach that consider going into film and many that would never consider it. Being given the opportunity to get behind and in front of the camera offers the rare chance to experiment with the film industry. And this week did not disappoint.

Sculptor of Clowns and Dresses

The Meeting and Writing on Some Fantastical Artists.

As I experienced last semester, sometimes getting in touch with your artist can be a kind of painful experience. You are talking to these wonderful artists or performers who have incredibly busy schedules. So not only do you have to worry about making plans and deciding on a location, you also have to worry about what to ask them and how you will manage to show off their art in Secondlife and how it will impact your grade. This is why, despite some set backs and resulting extensions, I am so proud of my students these past two weeks for doing all that they could do and sometimes more to prove that they will work hard at this project.

ePort-whatio?

What exactly is an ePortfolio? A few months ago, the biggest concern for many incoming college freshmen was having the colleges they applied to Google them and coming across some rather unflattering pictures. Past college, the same can be said for our future jobs. While some employers want to know that you can have fun and a life outside of work, many would prefer Read more »

P3: Explosions of Random

By far Project 3 Flash mobs were the most looked forward to project so far this semester. It was a new thing we were trying out and it turned out to be a blast. Ranging from the subtle freezing in place to people running around in sheets, it made for a day of confusion and enjoyment for not only the Art-110 students, but anyone on campus lucky enough to see them. Hopefully it becomes a semester tradition that everyone can look forward to in the future.

It’s difficult to pick out specific people for this project, but here are some of my favorite flash mobs from last Thursday:

Project 2: Sand in Some Weird Places

It was my favorite project to be sure. I mean lets be honest, how many other classes ask you to go to the beach for class? And play in the sand? And get a tan while you wait? That’s what I thought.

Mostly people’s plaster moldings look the same, but some were pretty cool. Mostly I liked the video blogs. Mostly this one because it made me laugh:

Project 1: The Beginning of The End

Better late then never!

Despite the issues we had the first week of posting projects, we finally got everything done. HURRAY!!!!

Project 1 is a chance to get a feel for what we’re going to be doing most of the semester, so some of you had a blast and some of you had some trouble, but it all turned out well in the end. There were some pretty awesome projects these first two weeks so let me run my favorites by you.
