The Dread is Over? 9a (H-N)

Man! There was so many obstacles that you guys had to over come with P7. Computer fails in the lab, Internet going out, having to obey prim limits, Island at prim capacity multiple times. Aren’t you guys glad that your galleries are just about done, if not already done? You guys are all awesome. Especially for putting up with the all the SecondLife DRAMA!!!!

Even with all the issues, everyone said that their galleries are going very well. AND IT SHOWS!!! Totally awesome galleries. AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME Galleries. I’m glad though that your frustrations on SecondLife are minimizing slowly. And now you don’t have much left to do on SecondLife!!! YAY for some of you, especially the IHATESECONDLIFE peep.

There are so many galleries that I saw and LOVED! But unfortunately, I can only pick a few.

Patrick Ho’s Gallery on Alizarin Goldflake @D@

OMGWTFBBQ MAN! This gallery is awesome. I remember seeing this gallery when the they were starting to build the castle. And look at it now! LOOK!!! LOOK AT IT!!!!! These people put a lot of work into it. I just love how this gallery turned out. ❤

Vincent Hoang’s Gallery of Garnet Hertz *O*

I love this gallery. It looks completely, utterly, truly awesome. It might not be finished but man it looks totally awesome. It is awesome how the floors are see-through and you can see underneath. Vincent and his group members did an amazing job, and they stayed true to their idea of giving their gallery a futuristic feel. I cannot wait to see it when its all finished.

Mark and Scott Magana’s Koning and Eizenberg Gallery >D<

These guys are the reason why VirtualCSULB runs out of prims. But man! Their structures are truly amazing. The Brothers are some serious Professional SecondLife Builders!!!

Tayler Nicholson’s Gallery of Vaneeesa Blaylock ^3^

Ummm. WOW!!! This gallery has REALLY come through a transformation. I remember seeing this gallery on thursday lab and it was nothing like this. BUT MAN! Tayler and her group members pulled their gallery out of a magician’s hat of awesomeness!!!

Ahhhhh I ran out of witty titles. 16 hours drained me

P5 is done!!

I really enjoyed seeing all of you but by 5 o’clock on Friday, i was DONE. 16 hours of proposal meetings. My eyes burn just thinking about it.

You all had some really good ideas. Some ideas were so good, i had almost no critiques. Now the interesting part is up, building.

For this week’s grading, i had the privilege of grading two sections of the 9a class: last names A-E and M-P.

Michelle Doan’s VRAG on Kristine Schoemaker/Gracie Kendall

the proposed gallery is going to be a maze full of people of different shapes and sizes

Lauren Delacoure’s VRAG on Vaneeesa Blaylock

Lauren’s Kitten got jealous of her sketchbook

Bojana Atanasova’s VRAG about Katriona Beales

P4 is over…..more like just beginning

As the title suggests, this only the first week of P4. Now that you all have met your artists, you can probably feel the pressure of stepping it up when it comes to the Virtual Art Galleries.

I was so proud to see the pictures and videos of people meeting with their artists. I started researching these artists during the summer and now they seem like celebrities to me. The work they do is so visually appealing but also has some things to say about how we live today. You look at some of the work that these people have done and you think “even if Ray Bradbury and Rachel Bloom had been alive 100 years ago, could she have even been able to do what she did?” The answer is no on so many levels. First, photography and filming is a fairly new invention so it didn’t exist back then. Also, Rachel Bloom would have probably been shunned and sent to live with nuns had the thought of fucking Ray Bradbury even crossed her mind.

Not to say that mediums like painting will ever die but, today there is a bigger fish to fry. It’s actually more like fishes. The invention of the camera propelled art into the 21st century and today we have artists like Juha Arvid Helminen and Rachel Bloom. People like Vaneeesa Blaylock use people (avatars) as their medium and Possimiste uses sound recordings. It’s a different world today.

Onto the projects…

I graded 9a, last names M-P. Really great work. A couple critiques:

  1. I really wanted to see the artist’s answers to the questions asked. A few people didn’t add the answers. kind of sad about that. 😦
  2. A lot of you are into putting music in your vids which is great but in the right context. When there is a slideshow of pics with no audio, GO FOR IT. play music! when it’s you vlogging and i need to listen to the words coming out of your mouth, not so appropriate. Either lose the music entirely at that part or turn it down to the point where i have to listen really hard to even know what song it is.

All in all, i am very proud (and jealous). This class has changed so much since the last time i took it and now all the cool things are being done.  🙂

So here are some of the great projects i collected. I will be showing this to your artist so that they can see what you did. (muah hahaha)
