Architecture Loading……..

This week has probably been the worst week of projects. I have never given such bad grades before on projects before. The main reason for this? NO SCREENSHOTS!!! After a week of working (I hope you guys have been working) on your projects we wanted to see your progress! That was the project for this week. We need physical evidence of this, not just your word! Other than that many of you did a great job on analyzing the reading of Eva and Franco. I am always happy to see the eclectic amount of responses to them and see what you feel about them. Since I am so sad at giving such bad grades, I don’t have too much to say…. Here are my favorite VLOGS and SKETCHES of the week…

Shark Tank… NOM NOM NOM….

I could not come up with a good title so I thought this was a great idea since were munching up ideas during our shark tank meetings. I have to say that I was pretty impressed with a lot of the groups creative ideas in representing their artists’ work. U saw some amazing sketches and ideas being bounced off of one another a lot. All in all, I would say the meetings were successful for most of you because seeing your vlogs I could see a lot of the ideas you had either really stuck or inspired most. I can’t wait to see all of your actual architectures soon! Should be exciting!

An Essay in an Art Class, WTF?

I’m pretty sure there were mixed reviews on writing an essay for this past weeks’ project. Some were rejoicing (because they rock at writing essays) or some (like me) were not rejoicing because writing is not our strong point. I was really proud of all the essays I read though. Grammatical errors are bound to pop up from time to time, but other than that Continue reading “An Essay in an Art Class, WTF?”

Cross Off “Meeting An Actual Artist” Off Your Bucket List…

This has probably been my favorite week so far because you guys finally got to meet your artists! 😀 I talked about them so passionately in my previous vlog and I was glad a lot of you were able to see why I was so passionate and become passionate yourselves. I was really surprised to see that a lot of you had not met an actual artist before and so this was a totally new experience for a lot of you Continue reading “Cross Off “Meeting An Actual Artist” Off Your Bucket List…”

What’s an E-Portfolio?

This week, there seemed to be a lot of confusion on hat an e-portfolio is exactly. Glenn wanted everybody to prepare for life after college, in building an online portfolio of work that they had done or interests/skills that you have just in a public sense. A lot of the responses from the video blog said that they didn’t really want the public knowing about them that in a sense this e-portfolio was pointless. I found that response very interesting because when I first heard about this project, I was overjoyed with the fact that I could make myself more publicly known. We are the CSULB Flashmobbers!

Well you guys are anyways 😛  I had such a blast seeing all of your guys’ creative ideas for the flash mobs. Some of the videos had me out loud laughing in the library with tons of people looking at me weird but it was worth it lol. I loved seeing all of the other people”s reactions to your flash mob as well. It was fun to see how some people were freaked out and how some people joined in! I wish i would have participated in some of them. I think my favorite ones were the GroupHug and the RecyclingRejoicing. Great work you guys, it took a lot of organizing, commitment, and creativity, and a lot of you stepped up to the plate! (: Continue reading “We are the CSULB Flashmobbers!”

Virtual Worlds, Real Worlds, Inception, Are We Dreaming? 0.o

HI everybody (:

I had the great opportunity of grading last names J-M in 11a and I was blown away by all of your guys’ work. I loved hearing all of your thoughts on your video blogs (VLOGS). It was amazing that a lot of you were doing this for the first and some of you were nervous, but that’s alright. Continue reading “Virtual Worlds, Real Worlds, Inception, Are We Dreaming? 0.o”

Let’s Do Some Legal Vandalizing ;)

I don’t even know where to start this week. Rain, Graffiti, Painting, my god an eventful weekend for sure. I was so surprised at a lot of the projects you guys did this week. Especially the home projects blew me away. I loved how a couple of you incorporated the “space” theme and created these amazing works of art. I also loved how many of you incorporated stencils into your designs. You guys are so talented and I am speechless.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

Isn’t my post so original? lol But I still want to wish everyone a FUN and SAFE Halloween! One of the most dangerous times of the year, so it’s best to be careful! I will be at home stuck writing a paper 😛 How fun 😉 One trend I noticed in my part of the projects was that a lot of you still don’t know how to say Eva and Franco Mattes, I would laugh every time I heaerd different variations. It’s pronounced ee-v-ah and f-r-ay-n-c-o m-ah-t-I/eh-z. In the phonetic alphabet (iva ænd frenko matI/Ez). Anyways, I can’t believe how many 100’s I gave on this project, I was blown away and proud at the same time (: Great work you guys, I am glad a lot of you understood the reading this time and some of you got a lot out of what their true message is. Without further ado, my favorite projects of the week were:

Diamond Carter

Christopher Gaw

LATE again!

Sorry guys! It’s only Tuesday and I am already doen with this week! I some awesome vlogs this week, I feel that a lot of you are now seeing a different side of Eva and Franco. At first you “hated” them and now you see their reasoning behind a few of their works and it’s starting to make sense to a lot of you. I went through the same exact thing you guys! At first it was just so hard for me to grasp their ideas for reasons such as: never seeing anything like this before and trying to understand their reason for “sabotaging”. Of course now I know there really was no malicious intent in any of their works even though it might seem to come off that way. It’s quite interesting to see a new medium of art that is not so typical like many of us are used to. This is what a lot of you had mentioned in your vlogs, and I absolutely agree with you guys. Now onto my “FAVORITES” of the week (:

1. Nicholas Anderson

  • “Art should not be restricted to a certain amount of people, it should be show to the entire world.”
  • “To someone else in the “game” who understands the effort and the time it took to build that character would value the time and ability it took to make this character come to life.”
  • “Their art is not conventional, it’s very out there, and they just want people to understand that art is not confined to an easel or a studio, it is anything in reality, they want to just make you think about what is going on in the world, and to understand that anything is art you just have to see it that way… if you can express an opinion or and idea through it visually then it is art.”
  • “If someone who has done it before, who cares we’ll do it again, if someone says it has been done many times before, their response is who cares we’re going to do it our way, We know who we are, we will not be influenced by others against us… won’t be restricted y anyone else.”

2. Mario Bonilla

3. Isabelle Fidel

  • “That’s how I wish to see myself, but that is not myself.”
  • “A projection of our identity, idealistically not facially”
  • “The past shows us our future”
  • “Sometimes we must fool people to get a sincere reaction.”

4. Anthony Flores

WOW I am so late! lol

OK well i really am feeling tired and have been kind of lazy this week 😛 Yes even the TA’s get tired and lazy, well at least I do. Sorry about the late grading by the way. I saw some awesome galleries during the week as I was flying in second life. I am amazed at all of the progress you guys have accomplished in this short week and the team work that you have displayed. I know this will go a long way in your futures. On another note, something I noticed as a trend is that you guys have not been RESIZING and RENAMING your pictures -__________- this is not good! We keep reiterating the importance of doing this and when you guys don’t, points get marked off tremendously on your grade and you usually wonder why you received the score that you did! If you don’t know how to resize and rename your pictures, there is a step by step process that Glenn has made a video of. WATCH IT! and watch the other ones, they will help you so much during the rest of the semester, I know they did help me. Honestly I feel that was one of the main reasons why I was able to get an A in this class. So now without any further ado, my fav projects of the week (:

1. Eun Lee

It’s a giant BROCCOLI! 😛 no it’s a tree! and I am amazed at how great this is starting to look, great job you guys!

2. Kevin Lee

WOW! the interior is coming along so great! (:

3. Eric Navarro

I think you guys have a great start on your gallery. It looks very professional. I didn’t really choose your project for your current gallery though, I was more interested in the ideas you had behind it and your vlog (:

WOW um…. boys dominated this one for me, sorry ladies 😉

GREAT JOB EVERYONE! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! (:

An Extension Blog for Extensions :P

Hey everybody!! (:

Here is an extension of my p4 blog: I just basically decided to talk about the projects I liked here! It was awesome to see how everyone was on top of things and did their projects on time! 😀 Now my favorites (:

Elissa Patterson

LOVED YOUR BLOG! I loved you were very into keira dooley’s ideas and I saw that which made ne get into it as well, must be a girl thing 😉 LOL

Matt Quinn

Great job in understanding your artist as well!

Preston Miles

Looks like you guys had such a great time! 😀 LOW KEY jealous -___- lol but I loved how you presented a lot of great details about her work!

KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK GUYS (:

PLAN, ELEVATION, and PERSPECTIVE

This is my blog on p5, and I am going to do a separate one on the the extra p4 extensions as well! You guys, I just wanted to express how great it was to meet a lot of you and creep some of you out by knowing your name 😛 I told you I was going to memorize everyone’s name by the end of the semester, and ya didn’t BELIEVE ME muahahahahaha! LOL ok enough of that but yes it’s great to get to know the eclectic amount of students here! I was in your position once upon a time (cough cough, a year ago, cough) so I know what it’s like to sort of be invisible and WE don’t want that for you guys at all!!! SO on a brighter note, here are my favorites from this week’s p5!!!

Kevin Lee

i saw Kevin during the VRAG proposal meetings and loved his idea then! I think for the groups who have performance artists, it will be hard to try and incorporate their artwork somehow but Kevin here along with his group had such a great idea of having avatars posing in certain ways that pertain to vaneesa blaylock’s poses in her artwork and have the hold videos showing the performances! ❤ it! I think vaneesa will def be proud (:

Marissa Melendrez

Loved Marissa’s idea to make the gallery underwater, very UNIQUE! I also love how her group will be incorporating pom poms into their gallery which is something their artist annelie mackenzie has a very symbolic meaning for! (:

Lauren Morales

Lauren and her group have not yet had the chance to meet their artist yet but still came up with a great concept for their gallery, i loved it because it was very modern and I think this will encopass their artist’s artwork very well! (:

Olivia Ott

I loved these girls idea for the gallery! I thought it was so detailed, talk about dotting your i’s and crossing your t’s!!! This group had so many details down, I think this will make their gallery very successful and heath bunting proud (:

Pamela Payad

Loved the sketch here and thought that their gallery idea will encompass their artist Nicole Sloan very well! It’s interesting how they took Nicole Sloan’s idea and then added onto it with their own ideas (:

GREAT JOB YOU GUYS!!!! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK (:

Are you an expert vlogger yet?

I could not think of a brilliant title for this week! 😦 Anyways, I hope those of you that did your project this week were excited to meet our artists and to see an artist in work and how they are able to put in so much hard work into their pieces and where their inspiration comes from. Art is amazing, it can speak to people on so many different levels and it speaks to an eclectic amount of people in which everyone is able to observe and decipher what the art piece meant. A form of expression that in my point of view is both beautiful and brilliant! Anyways, I really hope you guys had an awesome time, like liz said she was jealous as to how guys had this opportunity to meet these artists and how kind they were in giving you a piece of their time. I wish I could have done this during my semester in art110, i just did my VRAG on baroque art! 😛

Also, you guys I had to give some people TERRIBLE grades on their project because they did not follow what was required for the project on the RUBRIC!!!! Make sure you guys read that on beachboard before you attempt your project so you can receive an awesome grade on your project! I don’t like giving out D’s and F’s, it makes me sad 😦 I hope you guys look at this as a warning and as a piece of advice for your future projects! Well that is my rant for this week’s project, here are some of my favorite projects of the week 🙂

1. James Moran

2. Thinh Le

3. Evan Osborne

4. Pamela Payad

GREAT WORK YOU GUYS!!! KEEP IT UP! 🙂

Say it with me….. ee-vuh (phonetically spelled)

LOL! Hi everyone!

I thought it was so funny how so many of you guys couldn’t pronounce her name properly, but that’s fine, it was just a trend that occurred this time. I decided to try and spell her name in the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) since that’s my major, and I felt like being a nerd today 😛 But unfortunately I could not because I do not know how to type some of the symbols on my computer so I did this in the American Phonetic Alphabet (APA) 🙂

So Glenn decided to switch up who grades who this week, which I thought was kind of exciting only because I want to get to know more of you guys in this class. So, I was very pleased with my new group of students, so glad to see some new and familiar faces! I just want to say that I appreciate you guys for stating your true opinion on the matter of eva and franco, yet still remaining respectful and not entirely putting them down but backing up you responses with facts and personal feelings. Honestly this is how I strive to live  my life so I applaud you guys 🙂

Moving on, MY FAVORITE PROJECTS OF THE WEEK 😀 there’s just so many every time I grade lol. Honestly I chose my favorites based on the ideas you guys presented not really on technicality 🙂

Emily Hyams

Lauren Delcoure

Michelle “Michi” Doan

Isabelle Fidel

Anthony Flores

THE GIRLS TOTALLY ROCKED THIS ONE! LOL 🙂 GOOD JOB YOU GUYS! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!
